Tips to Host an Awards Ceremony that No One Will Forget

One of the most difficult aspects of hosting an awards ceremony is that it involves a lot of speaking. If you simply read out a long list of names and present them with awards, your audience can get bored quickly. Here are some tips to make sure that does not happen!

  1. Pass on the Stage.

Especially if your awards ceremony is on the smaller side, it can be a good decision to skip the traditional stage setup. It can feel more memorable and personal if you simply set up a table in the center of the room for the action to take place.

  1. Make Time for Socializing.

Socializing is important at any event. You don’t want your attendees to come in, sit down, hear the names called off, and that’s it. You want to encourage them to socialize and network with each other. To do this, make sure it is convenient for them to do so by making sure there is enough room for guests to maneuver around the room.

  1. Who Has Been Most Exceptional?

Of course, you want to be inclusive and recognize a lot of people for the good work they have done, but you also may want to consider choosing one top performer to give the “highest” awards to. This way, people have something to aspire to, as well as an extra exciting announcement to anticipate at the awards ceremony.

  1. Don’t Skimp on the Food.

Food is a major aspect of pretty much any event. Don’t go light on the food. Make sure there are some good quality selections for people to enjoy. In fact, if there are some people on the fence about attending the ceremony in the first place, the promise of some good catering can be just the push they need!

  1. Don’t Settle for Crummy Trophies.

If you’re going to give out personalized awards, they ought to be something that your employees will want to keep for years! Otherwise, all the work you put into the awards ceremony will not be as rewarded as it could be.

Above all else, think of your people first. These tips are general, so now it’s time for you to consider your people’s unique preferences and get into the specifics!

Summertime Corporate Awards Ceremony and Event Ideas

Naturally, many parties and employee get-togethers take place in the fall and winter, due to the large number of holidays that take place during that time of year. Because of this, some employees experience a lull during the long summer months. A great way for a business owner or manager to keep employees motivated and bonded as a team during the summer is to take advantage of the warm weather and have an outdoor company party. This can also pose a great opportunity to present corporate awards or gifts, as these can be wonderful mid-year motivators. Take a look at these outdoor event ideas that are sure to be a hit among your team!

  1. Golf Outings and Tournaments

Golf outings are a great option for company get-togethers because they give employees an opportunity to be active alongside each other. However, golf is not so physically active that some people will get intimidated or be unable to participate. While playing golf, laid-back co-workers can easily talk and hang out with one another, while the competitive individuals can have some fun of their own!

  1. Boating

Of course, this summer event idea will typically only work if your company is located near the water. Whether it is a river, lake, or ocean, renting a boat for a few hours will always be a hit among your employees! There is something about being in the middle of the water that is so relaxing yet exciting. Practically speaking, having everyone close together on a boat also makes it really easy to make announcements, have an awards ceremony, or give a speech!

  1. Baseball Games

Baseball is one of America’s favorite sports, and attending a baseball game is one of the simplest, yet thoroughly-enjoyed activities for any group of people. A baseball game makes it easy for co-workers to converse with one another. In fact, for newer employees who are just getting to know everyone, if they have trouble finding a subject to talk about, the baseball game going on before their eyes is an easy place to start!

One of the best aspects of these summer events is that each one makes for a great opportunity to present employees with recognition awards or gifts. Coupled with a fun and relaxing day, having a little awards ceremony increases employee motivation and inspiration to keep working hard!
